Colo High School seeks to constantly provide high
standards of education, self-esteem and safety for all its students. As decided
by the school community (made up of parents, students, staff, School Council
and local community members) the wearing of uniform is integral to providing
and maintaining these standards.
The Colo High School Uniform Committee is currently reviewing all aspects of the student's uniform and the school's uniform policy. We would like to have input from parents, caregivers and students. The questionarre involves possible uniform changes.
It is important to note that the school has to follow DET guidleines and the P&C Committee have to agree to any changes.
1.Helps
to promote a strong school spirit. Such a school spirit has been linked by research to improved learning
outcomes.
2.Provides a clear identification of students
within the school and community, and
3.Promotes cohesion between different groups
with a school.
It is our intention that every student will be
able to wear the correct school uniform at all times. Many community judgements
are based on appearance and we urge parents to assist in creating the best
possible impression of Colo High School. Uniforms provide identity and the
discipline required for wearing uniform is appropriate preparation for many
occupations.

Students are expected to have all items of
clothing, labelled to assist with the return of lost items. If a student is
unable to wear correct uniform on a particular day, a note written by
parent/caregiver should be provided and given to the Head Teacher during Roll
Call. Uniform items may be loaned for the day.
Students found to break the uniform code will be
issued with a uniform note detailing the problem. This note is required to be
signed by the parent/caregiver and returned to the issuing Head Teacher the
following day.
Students who break the uniform code on two (2)
occasions will be referred to the H.T. (uniform). For continued infringement, a
student may be referred to the Deputy Principal and placed on an appropriate
level. This may mean a student may be excluded from the school activities or
receive an afternoon detention.
Families experiencing difficulties in providing
correct uniform may apply for assistance through the Student Assistance Scheme.
Information and applications are available from the school office or the Head
Teacher, Welfare.
