Colo High School - Community Forum

High School Teens and Scenes

Wednesday 18th May 2005
7:30PM in the Theatrette

Take youself back to your teenage years .. .. .. .. What were your influences, choices and experiences? Were your parents in touch with the issues you faced? Society may have changed since then, but the issues remain the same for our young people of today

As a valuable community service, the main focus of the Community Forum will be to provide current and accurate information to parents and caregivers regarding:

  • Peer Pressure
  • Decision Making
  • The Party Scene
  • The High School Environment
  • Drugs and Alcohol

There will also be an opportunity for Questions and Answers

Many parents and caregivers feel inadequate about their level of knowledge with certain issues and for this reason, most are reluctanct to initiate conversations with their teenagers

Guest speakers include:

  • Senior Constable Brett Barnes - "Hawkesbury Citizen of the Year"
  • Louise Maher - Senior Health Education Officer of Sydney West Area Health Service

Our Speakers will aim to provide some practical strategies for talking with young people about the above topics, including the myths/misconceptions surrounding alcohol and drug-use.

The night will be set in an informal, relaxed and interactive way, restricted to Adults Only.

Supper will be provided and "Lucky Door" prizes drawn:

  • Lunch or Dinner - Kurmond WIne bar and Grill
  • 2 x Energising Beaty Facials provided by Skin Fitness - North Richmond
  • 2 x Relaxing Body massages provided by Skin Fitness - North Richmond

If you have teenagers or children entering High School in 2006, this is an important night not to be missed. Invitations will be issued in Term 2 to parents and caregivers of local school communities. We look forward to your attendance.
